Nomadic Film Space Launched at Cannes to Connect African Producers and Capital

A groundbreaking initiative, the Nomadic Film Space, has been unveiled at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival's Marché du Film. This innovative 'traveling market platform' is specifically designed to forge connections between African film producers and financial investors, aiming to address a crucial void within the global film sector.

The platform, a collaborative effort by Yetu (Un)limited, Ctrl + Alt + Shift, Sanusi Development Studio, and Kiasi, seeks to cultivate a structured environment where African cinematic entrepreneurs can engage with investors who possess a deep understanding of the industry's unique dynamics. This encompasses all stages of filmmaking, from conceptualization and production to audience engagement and distribution. Yanis Gaye, the founder of Yetu (Un)limited, emphasized the importance of designing infrastructure that enables serious investors to interact with these markets on their own terms, recognizing the cultural richness and specific contexts that define African, Afro-diasporic, and Global South film industries.
